child born abroad
hello guys, I’m hoping someone can help answer my question. I am a us citizen, with a us passport. I had a certificate of citizenship which I applied for after I received my us passport. I happened to have lost my certificate of citizenship. I am planning on getting a born abroad birth certificate and passport for my one year old son. Is my us passport enough proof for them to issue one for my son. I have school records and one expired us passport that prove I have lived in the country for over 10 years. any answers are very much appreciated.

your passport should be enough to prove you are a us citizen. if not they will let you know

in my case they required my passport, my birth certificate, marriage certificate and all the child's documents and copies of everything to file for my son's crba

ah okay, and I filed my son's crba in south africa so they might just be more strict there with paternal situations

did you walk in or did you send them an email with all the documents first and then they gave you an appointment
C
Connor M8 de may de 2022
I had to email them all my documents to be reviewed before they even gave me an appointment date. this was during covid however
H

I just did that and they just gave me an appointment. do they ask for more documentation other than the ones sent in? they didn’t say anything in the email just,”  Please be advised that although we have reviewed your documents by e-mail, you must bring all documents to the U.S. Embassy at the interview. “

no they won't ask for any extra, if they reviewed and gave you an appointment you should be good. just make sure to pay attention to what they need originals and copies for because they confused me there

all they mean by that is, you emailed them the documents just to make sure you have the right stuff but they still need the physical documents for their own purposes

awesome thank you so much, that makes me feel much better

no problem, this process was very confusing for me to do alone, plus I traveled half way across the world just for the interview to make it more difficult, so I'm glad I can make it at least a little easier for you

thanks I’m traveling across the world also, I have an appointment for my son and then I have the visa for my wife a week later. it’s going to be a doozy
C

I’m super late but I reallly was overthinking it. I had brought school records and everything and they were very relaxed about it all. I would just say make sure you bring things that show what they are asking you to bring and as long as you do that you should be ok
