I did some work in research, 1 publication, 3 citations. My lawyer told me it’s more about proving your competence in the field you’re applying for rather than how many publications you have.

I’d suggest you work with your lawyer on responding to the rfe because it’s more or less dependent on your field. add me and message me on IG tobee_shawn if you have any more questions.
