🙏🏽 A First Day of School Prayer for Immigrant Parents & Their Children
Heavenly Father, Today, as our children walk through the doors of their schools, many immigrant parents are carrying a weight that no child should ever have to see. We smile, we fix their hair, pack their lunches, take their pictures, and tell them, “Have a good day.” But deep inside, some of us are carrying fear. Fear of being separated from our children. Fear of not knowing what tomorrow will bring. Fear that the life we worked so hard to build could be taken away. Fear that one day our children may have to wake up without us beside them. Lord, You know every immigrant parent who is quietly living with these fears. You know the parents who crossed borders searching for safety, opportunity, and a better future for their children. You know the sacrifices, the sleepless nights, the struggles, and the prayers that brought us here. Father, please protect our families. Protect our children when they are at school. Protect their hearts from fear and anxiety. Let them learn, laugh, make friends, dream big, and enjoy being children. And protect the parents who are doing everything they can to keep their families together. When fear tells us that we are alone, remind us that You are with us. When we don't know what tomorrow holds, give us strength for today. When we are afraid of being separated from our children, wrap Your arms around our families and make a way where there seems to be no way. Lord, give immigrant parents wisdom, courage, and favor as they navigate a system that can sometimes feel overwhelming and frightening. Put the right people in their path. Open the right doors. Close the wrong ones. Give them advocates, attorneys, communities, and people who will stand beside them. And Father, if a parent is reading this prayer today with tears in their eyes because they are afraid they may not be there to see their child grow up, please give them peace. Remind them that their children are deeply loved. Let our children never doubt how hard their parents fought for them. May our children grow up knowing that their parents didn't come here because it was easy. We came because we believed our children deserved a better tomorrow. So today, Lord, we place our children in Your hands. While they sit in their classrooms, we ask You to watch over them. While we work, attend appointments, fill out paperwork, wait for decisions, or fight through uncertainty, give us strength. And when fear tries to steal our hope, remind us: Our story is not over. Our families are worth fighting for. Our children are worth every sacrifice. And You are still God over our families. May this school year bring protection, stability, success, and peace to every immigrant family. Bring our children home safely every afternoon. And may every parent have the blessing of watching their children grow, graduate, succeed, and become everything they were created to be. Lord, keep families together. Protect our children. Strengthen our parents. Give us courage. Give us favor. Give us peace. And give us hope. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen. 🙏🏽❤️
