@tanii es ~ It was crazy! My abuse was financial & psychological so I had to write another declaration explaining EXACTLY what my husband was doing & saying. That was the worst part, as it brought up a lot of things I had pushed to the back of my mind. They wanted the IRS receipts, not the filed paperwork ~ they wanted proof that we filed taxes together. I went back to Women in Distress as USCIS wanted a detailed number of group classes I attended, what were the classes about & how many one on one sessions I had w/a therapist. I needed another Vawa letter from them also. I had to supply more bank statements w/active transactions, they wanted MORE bills w/both of our names on them. They also said that I didn’t talk about our routine together. I didn’t know I had to write about that, & my atty didn’t say I had to either, so I wrote another declaration about EVERYTHING. I spoke about the house, what colour it is, how many windows it has, what the b/rm set up is like, the colour of the walls, whether we have tile or carpet, what the kitchen looks like, how many trees are in the backyard, where the bbq grill is located, I even talked about what my husband has for bfast & what medications he takes daily! I let them have every detail I thought they could possibly question. I included my psychological exam also from 2019. I told my atty to include it in the original pkg, as it had A LOT of details that I wasn’t comfortable talking about in it, she said no, let them ask for it. If you have an atty, just make sure they know wth they’re doing & TRULY have YOUR best interest at heart.

@mime joni ~ Yes you do, that's how you support your claim of abuse. If you have a police report, that's great include it in your pkg. You write a declaration explaining EVERYTHING that happened in your relationship. If ppl know about the abuse, ask them to write letters on your behalf. hth

What do you mean was it verbal? It's just a letter that you must include when you send up the pkg.

Evidence of the abuser’s U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status;Marriage and divorce decrees, birth certificates, or other evidence of your legal relationship to the abuser;One or more documents showing that you and the abuser have resided together, such as employment records, utility receipts, school records, hospital or medical records, birth certificates of children, mortgages, rental records, insurance policies, or affidavits;Evidence of the abuse, such as reports and affidavits from police, judges, court officials, medical personnel, school officials, clergy, social workers, and other social service agency personnel. If you have an order of protection, or have taken other legal steps to end the abuse, you should submit copies of those court documents;If you are 14 years of age or older, your affidavit of good moral character accompanied by a local police clearance, state-issued criminal background check, or similar report from each locality or state in the United States or abroad where you have resided for six or more months during the three-year period immediately before you filed your self-petition; andIf you are a spouse, submit evidence showing you entered your marriage in good faith, such as proof that one spouse has been listed as the other’s spouse on insurance policies, property leases, properly filed tax forms, or bank statements. You may also submit your affidavit or affidavits of others who have knowledge of your courtship, wedding ceremony, shared residence, and other life experiences, if available. You may submit any relevant credible evidence in place of the suggested evidence if you are a: VAWA self-petitioning spouse or child of a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident; orVAWA self-petitioning parent of a U.S. citizen son or daughter.

@mike joni ~ Have your brother join lawfully. There are sooooo many ppl on this app willing to share their experiences & knowledge. The best thing your brother can do is to start helping himself. Start doing his own research to resolve his immigration situation

@mike joni ~ Oh yeah! I'm still married to my ex. If I had the work permit I would have divorced him long ago, but as I never got one, I just left it alone.

@mike joni ~ This has been a very difficult process for me, & the wait for an approval has been stressful. I know not having a job can be financially stressful in a relationship but that doesn’t warrant filing for Vawa. Vawa is for those who have really been abused mentally & physically. See if your brother can speak to the wife about getting a job at Walmart, a clothing store, ANYWHERE, let her know she could be jeopardizing his immigration case but not working, that may or may not help, you’ll have to try to find out. If it wasn’t for me poking around & asking other atty’s & immigrants questions, I would have NEVER found out about the RFE that was sent out in April, which she claims she got in June & was ‘actively’ working on. It’s been a frustrating nightmare ordeal. @Vawa Family ~ Thank you. I could do with some more good news trust me.

I received 3 prima facie since and EAD. i just received request for evidence about proof of relationship,and good faith marriage battery and extreme cruelty and good moral character. that’s a lot I don’t know how to do with all that

Thanks Mass De Mass. You’re just a few months after me. I think I recvd 3 Prima Facie’s also. I just don’t understand why I never got an EAD. The RFE that I got in April was for proof of residence also. I also had to provide more bank statements, IRS receipts & they wanted to know how many therapy sessions I had at women in distress. I hope everything works out for you.

@Mass De Mass ~ If you’re referring to the immigration evaluation, this is some info per Google: Licenses that immigration courts recognize as eligible in every state include: PsyD, PhD, and LCSW. There are also LMFTs and LPCs successfully doing evaluations throughout the country. (For instance, in California, the courts and licensing boards have confirmed that LMFTs are eligible to do these assessments.) Regular therapy can be done ANYWHERE if you can afford it. I I haven’t worked a regular job in yrs & was doing really poorly mentally. A therapist friend of mine told me about Women in Distress (& NO you do not need to be female to attend) & they helped me out A LOT. That’s where I got the majority of my therapy on. I had an advocate & I attended group therapy also. See who offers this type of help in your area. Good luck.

I just opened the app to 2 notifications. The first one says case moved from biometrics to decision. Second notification says they've ordered my new card & EAD is being mailed out! 🍾 They seem to be picking up steam guys. Keep praying & keep hope alive.

Usually I’m the very same way. I have known her & her husband for yrs, & actually they’re the ones who provided my financial sponsorship when my husband’s income wasn’t enough. She has been my main cheerleader when I was ready to give up on this immigration journey.

Yeah she’s good. When I couldn’t find my atty for those 5 months, she was trying to give me money to have a consultation w/another atty. When our townhome had to be fumigated & our association didn’t put the residents in a hotel, she had me, my 3 dogs & 3 cats come up to her house! This yr when I got sick on my bday, she drove an hr from her house to pick up dinner, then drive all the way down to me 2 1/2 hrs w/a truck load of cooked crabs! I screamed! she really is the best! 🥰

awww What she’s definitely a friend. yes you should definitely keep her close and now you’re at an advantage to take her out sometimes now lol. she’s so caring that’s great you have someone u can depend on and you know that’s gonna be there for you

liza liza ~ EXACTLY! I always make sure she knows how much I appreciate her & what she did for me. Not many ppl would put themselves on the line to be someones financial sponsor, it’s a bit risky. She keeps saying you don’t owe me anything, I did what I did bcoz I wanted to. I don’t listen to her, whenever I get some money, I put it a side bit by bit & buy her gifts. 🥰

Yes, as soon as I can give back the way I want to, I'll definitely do so. Lawfully is really spitting out the notifications! I just got another one stating that my EAD is approved. It seems that the notifications go out before the actual official word does, when documents legitimately have been approved. Just ONE more now......that I485. 🙏

Krish90……the 20th of this month will be 3 months. As much as I’d LOVE to receive my GC right now, I think ppl usually hear from USCIS between 6 months & up. I’m just glad I’m working & this is distracting me from checking USCIS every day just driving myself mad. I really hope you hear something soon. I don’t like that you’re waiting for this long.
