Post offices hold uscis cards for 2 weeks before returning them I heard. I would go to the local post office of that address and use my ID to try to collect my mail.

I would it not in my state it’s in California and I’m in Texas

or fly. call the post office and confirm they still have it. uscis will not take responsibility for their mistake. what is the permit worth to you?

it’s currently in transit so the only option I have is to wait until it delivered an fly to California to get it

You can try using whitepages.com to find current residents at that address and see if you can find their contact information. Maybe they can forward your docs to you

@harris since it is illegal and an offense to take mail that doesn’t belong to you, my friend offered to go the address and ask them to hold the mail for you to pick it up in person. I hope this helps.

It's illegal I agree. But as long as you the person write an authorization to pick up you can do it. My suggestion is, ask your friend to go to the address, explain the situation to the resident and ask him to forward the mail to telmoy address. Of course, give him a paid envelope. That's all. If Escondido was closed I'll do that
