definitely not recommend it to travel outside the US with a travel document

I’m out of the country with a RTD while my 485 is still pending based on grand of asylum i will let you know when i return back to the United States in about 1 months

@luck bird can someone with RTD and pending i485 travel outside US for more than 3months?

I have traveled with RTD twice: - Mexico in November - Turkie in winter No problems at all, but they always send me to secondary inspection, because this passport doesn’t have a chip, so they have to manually verify this document. They never asked me questions. Jist friendly “hey buddy, here is your passport, welcome back, welcome home”

just got back last Friday at jfk airport on RTD i485 pending no any issues very smooth processing

i speak from experience . i left 5 December 2025 and came back on 7 March 2026 with RTD and pending GC . went to secondary for 5 minutes coz i didnt have GC ( thats the reason they gave me) but i had no issues

One of my friend returned safely last month with RTD. Similar situation. Good luck.

I’m also waiting for like 19 months now

I can tell you my situation. I get my rtd with 485 still pending. I travel out us for almost 6 month. And I go back us last week. Just go to the secondary office. Then everything is OK. But I think this doesn't guarantee. If necessary, just do it. If you are afraid of that. Then think out whether you can stand the result

yes you can travel with your travel document i have alot friends they traveled
