SSN
A Few days ago, I found that SSA made a mistake on my address, so my Social security card went back to the sender.
However, I really need my SSN for submitting my job offer now, so I made an appointment next monday: 3.7.2022 to re-apply the social security card. But I’m sure it’s take at least 1-2weeks to get the card by mail.
Do you guys think if I ask my SSnumber when I visit SSA, are they gonna tell me the number first? Or should I have to wait another two weeks to receive the card by mail.
I’m asking because my employer wants to take my job back if I can’t give them SSN till next Monday:3.7.2022. All I need is the SSN..

@Skye... they should be able to give you the ssn number if you ask them and tell them how urgent it is.

@Bayano thanks friend, yea they should..!! But what I’m worrying is, most of the SSA have some attitude (kind of), so it’s hard to assume if they’ll give me or just make me wait another few weeks

SS are not authorised to provide SSN by phone or email, but given the emergency you have they may do it after
they confirm your ID. Make sure to memorise it or keep a copy at a safe place. The number is always the same, even if you are correcting it. hope this helps. @skye shen

Thnk you guys, I finally got the number. The card will be delivered in 4 weeks but at least I got the number !! feels really good :)) good luck to you guys too

@Nina, I made an appointment and went to the SSA office in person, I asked the officer to write me a letter with the SSN on. The card will be arrived in few weeks but at least I know the number.

if you call to your local office ask for a printout (in case your SSN was assigned to you) and they will mail it to you. I did that and received the number next day
