I reached out to my local congresswoman last week and they made an official request to USCIS about my case two days ago. They told me they would reach out when they receive an update, so now it’s just waiting.. but I suggest it since it could only help.

I’ve been trying this route for about a month now. I really think it depends on your Congress person. I know they’ve inquired but I think that’s it. USCIS has been responding to my emails outside of processing time with generic responses indicating they don’t know when my case will be approved. So depending, it may annoy them that you are trying to push the envelope not in some cases it works! Don’t hurt to try!

@tracey M at True! at least you got a response from USCIS. I made two inquiries and never got a response so I was out of options, but like you said maybe going through a congressman/woman might not do anything at all or maybe it will. I’ve heard from some people they reached out through their congressman and they got an update soon after that, so I’m crossing my fingers!

@Divine S oh I see! I’ve been waiting for an update on my I485 for 2yrs and 4 months so it’s definitely taken forever. maybe just wait a little bit since your processing times are still normal.

No disadvantage. It’s a hit or miss.
