Proof Of Employment
Hello,
I am requested to provide proof of employment. I used to work in India but I was not making enough to meet the tax bracket, so I was paid in cash. How do I legally prove my employment and my job title to USCIS?

Get a notarized statement from your previous boss stating how much you used to make, type of work, frequency etc. If you have pictures or any other documents like pay stubs (receipts) etc. add them too. And most importantly, if you used to deposit your payment in the bank after getting it in cash, get your bank statements showing it. Good luck!

Thank you for the responses. The problem is my employment is from over 10 years ago. there were no bank deposits. India was mostly cash run. how would that change the response?

If it’s from 10 years ago, they won’t expect bank statements as most places only keep them for 5 years. Use a notarized statement from your ex-boss, supervisor or an affidavit from a colleague that worked with you. If it was 10 years ago, this should suffice.

sorry I was not clear I thought you got paid cash here in USA. If it’s different country I don’t know.
