N-400 interview
Went for my interview today, the officer that interviewed me quizzled me about not including my child on my initial greencard application and why I said No to the officer that interviewed me for my greencard when asked if I have a child.
Fact of my case: My ex girlfriend got pregnant before I came to the USA but we fell out and never talked until she gave birth but I was sending money through my parents to her. So legally I didn’t accept the paternity of the child in the first place. Reason why I didn’t include my child on my greencard was because I did not have legal document to proof that the child is mine so even if I included her on the my greencard application, I wouldnt have any proof because the mother would not release documents relating to her birth to me at that time until recently when we made up.
N-400 interview: The officer that interviewed me today said me not including my child on my greencard and answering No when asked if I had a child and now adding her to my N-400 is tantamount to me lying on oath during my greencard interview. So he said my N-400 application will be held for further review and if they need more evidence they will let me know but I won’t be able to complete my process today. May I also add that I am in the military and everyone we came together are swearing in as we speak. Anyone in this situation before? Is this a grave mistake that will deny my N-400 eventually?

You should have left your child out in the entire process since you never added that in the first place. You’ll have to wait and see what happens or consult an attorney
