My License Renewal with the Extension notice (pending EAD; Pending VAWA) was a success.
Hey Fam,
I thought i would post this update and maybe it might help someone else. My EAD is expiring May 22 2024 and today i went to the DMV to renew my license with my EAD. It was smooth. No questions asked. They only wanted my old EAD, social security and my insurance.
She didn't even mention about my EAD date of expire, I was the one who told her oh by the way my EAD is expiring in few days i have the extension memo from the USCIS website for 540 days... she answered, i know about the extension, you are category C9, you will get 8 yrs renewal. I was shocked. That was it. She didn't even ask for the EAD receipt notice or the i-485 pending notice.
She told me every DMV know about the extension because they received the update from the government. She said if the officer doesn't know abt it, ask for the supervisor.
This was North Carolina, Raleigh.

i doubt every dmv knows this.i was turned away two weeks ago in MA.They told me to wait until my Ead expires to see if anything will change in their system.

thank you guys! i was soo worried. @Rosy ann, that is really crazy, you should go to another DMV office..the lady even showed me the booklet with all the categories and instructions. Next time ask to speak with the supervisor.

@Leo Lance you take just the paper extension? do we need Amy new pics? what do they gave you , the same driver licence with new date?

@Good vibes For ever.... you need to go with your passport, social security card, 2 proof of adress, your expired EAD, your EAD receipt notice with the 180 day extension , your i-485 receipt notice... I also went extra to print out that memorandum from the USCIS website that talks about extension of 540 days and it's categories. it's about 5 pages. But she only asked for my social security card and passport and the proof of adress... she said they know about the extension. Every DMV is different, if they don't know ask to speak with the supervisor. But they should know because she even pulled out a booklet to show me the new ruling and it's categories. Good luck!

you don't need pics, they take the pics there. You need to revise your road signs. They will test you there if you're renewing your license.
