Marriage based GC and previous marriage
hello community,
Is anyone in the same situation? have a previous marriage that ended back in 2016, in 2021 married again and my spouse filed I-130 for me. How much of a trouble does the previous marriage cause?

did u file an i130 then?
if u got married in 2021 u should have a good amount of evidence. get a lawyer during ur interview. it’s a must

my spouse (petitioner) was previously married, filed for ex wife who is now a citizen. they divorced. we met after divorce. Dated abs got married after 4 years. (Together 6 years) . Didn’t intend on bringing lawyer to the interview because both marriages were/are legitimate so not worried.. Divorce happens

if u never filed an i130 before then . u have nothing to worry about. people get married and divorce everyday. they’re just interested in cases we’re one has several applications. they assume desperation

thank you so much for sharing! I guess they don’t ask a lot from US citizens who were married before, but I’m the beneficiary and that’s why a bit scared, though both of my marriages are legitimate.

@yasya I think you should be ok! I’m sure they will ask more questions but as long as legitimate and you are comfortable proving that, they can’t punish you for that.
