The F2A category (spouses and minor children of LPRs) currently has its Dates for Filing chart at "Current" for May 2026, meaning anyone with an approved I-130 inside the U.S. can file their I-485 adjustment of status right now to secure work/travel authorization, but the Final Action Date (when the green card is actually approved) just jumped 6 months to August 1, 2024 for most countries (August 1, 2023 for Mexico), meaning USCIS is actively approving cases with priority dates on or before that cutoff, with an estimated 1.5–2 year wait for more recent filers. Importantly, the State Department has warned that retrogression is possible later in FY2026 if demand increases, so anyone eligible to file their I-485 should do so promptly rather than wait.
