Jay you need to first enquire of the landlord on what basis has he kept your security deposit. secondly if you left the apartment after the 4th of the month then he can hold that security for that reason. did the landlord have to clear the apartment of any of your belongings that could also be a factor.

Nope we left the house clean, I have video of him inspected the appartment. I left the first of March. The same day I give him back his key, he had someone who come look the appartment.

the first of the month is the beginning of a new cycle. He can use that also to say he kept the deposit because you left on the 1 and not the 31.

@niquee yes you are right. the date differs I assume in other states. my rent is due on the 4th each month.
