We are still in the process of calling the NVC to get our case number. We only have our I-797 hard copy onhand.

Why do you need your case number for? What is the 179 form?

The case number will indicate if NVC is processing your petition sending it to your embassy as per me im from the philippines so that will be my tracking number if NVC is sending it to my embassy. The form I-797 is the approval letter that they approved the i-129f petition.

Don’t you have to file the DS-160 form before your case gets sent to your embassy?

We will just fill out the ds 160 when the status of our case is “ready”.

Can you please explain to me what happens once you’re approved? I am confused of the next strips.

When you’re approved there Your foreign fiance will receive a notice letter indicating that your petition is “approved” that is the I-797 Notice of Approval

after 10 days or so you can call the NVC to know your case number

What happens after your information is sent to the NVC and once you call to receive your case number?

If you have the case number that is the time you can track your petition at CEAC tracker and you will see if it is”at NVC”, “in transit” and “ready”.

What does all of that mean? I thought you had to submit documents before you receive anything (for instance, the interview).

Who schedules the interview? I do as the petitioner? What is the medical?

For the interview it is the beneficiary who schedules it to the embassy. For us filipinos its the embassy who decides when is the interview date. The medical exam is what you do before the interview. the results of the medical will be sent to the embassy of the beneficiary

Hmm, that’s very interesting. Is the DS-160, affidavit of support, etc taken to the interview? I always thought that had to be submitted before you could be given an interview date.

you should do it before the interview. you’ll be needing it for the interview

What if your fiancé doesn’t have all the vaccines or what do they do for the medical exam?

It is a requirement now for covid vaccine

Whay about other shots/vaccines? What if my fiancé doesn’t have them?

what i know that the embassy now require for covid vaccine. you can check the uscis site for the approved vaccines

Hmm, I have only heard different about the NVC process.. so, I’m not sure which might be right.

you can also check some vlogs from youtube. that’s where i get some ideas on k1 visa process

jessica and jane. you can call NVC 30 days after approval to see if they have a case number ready yet for you. not before 30 days. than you fill out the online DS-160 form

are they still holding your papers? Mine was approved Sept.2020. and NVC still holding it.

@nedilyn enojo they still have it. We received 2nd email from them this march 2,2022 that they are still holding our papers due to pandemic.

that’s exactly what they told us. and because of the huge backlogs.

i think we just need to wait. it’s already alert level 1 in Manila

been waiting for almost 2 years now. hopefully they’ll resumed normal processing 🙏🏻
