hi I am also in the same boat I need to apply for a j-1 waiver soonish. so far I found a good lawyer from the Motion Immigration Law Firm in WA DC. they charge though $5000 :/

Wow! Is it both US Dept and USCIS together? when did you file ?

I applied for hardship waiver, I do not see case status on Department of state website. is there anything else can be done.

does anybody know that in case of Exceptional Hardship Waiver, what are the chances of favorable recommendation by DOS if USCIS recommended?

I am not sure, what is the favorable out come if USCIS recommended. My case is in pending in DOS since last 7 months.
