documents must be translated by a translator because they will ask for the translators information at some point

when I needed for a translator, I asked to a friend fluent in both my language and English to certify (a few sentences and his signature) the translated document was accurate

I’m not sure this will be accepted. I mean, you can traslate by yourself, but you need somebody else taking the responsibility of saying the translation is accurate

I would suggest professional translators as you can get rfe for sending inaccurate translations which might delay your case.
