i485 supplement J (REF)

Hi friends, I have received RFE stated to submit completely signed i485 J supplement. my employment is same since I was applied for i140 separate (filling to approval) i485 filling to till date continue so my question is who can sign my J supplement form? My supervisor PI or University admin person. if some received and responded this RFE or submitted J supplement form please guide me me thanks a lot. I am a self petitioner EB2 NIW employment based. As per my knowledge self petitioners donot need to submit supplement form so I didn’t submitted with I485 in October 2025.

Thank you Nazir Ahmad. I know It is not required in my case. but question is how I can respond to this RFE? Do you know any one else with similar EB2 Niw petition received RFE to submit Supplement J

you'll get a mail from them asking what information they need. it could be tax related.

Depending on what they ask in your RFE, what most people used to show exemption from supplement J as self petitioner under EB2-NIW is a document on the USCIS page showing exemption for your category. On the USCIS website search for supplement J, you’d see the document showing the requirement for supplement J, on the first page, there’s a note towards the end stating the category of exemption. Highlight and print that page and write an explanation letter to reemphasize that you are exempted per the USCIS guidelines and your visa category. This should work. However, if they require other documents from the RFE, send in addition to what I have stated. I hope it helps.
