what country are you from?

I think that you can apply for a passport at your country embassy . but since you got your green card via asylum you won’t be able to go to your country directly until you become a citizen . also some embassy like the Cameroon embassy in d.c wouldn’t granted you a passport if you have an asylum case . so just bring your green card with you and not any immigration paper related to your asylum otherwise they will denied your application for a new passport .

So what was the point of getting asylum if you still wanna use the passport from your home country then ? Just apply for Refugee Travel Document with USCIS.

@ r paul even with a refugee travel document you still need a passport to travel .

There should be a consulate Office in the state you live at from your country you can apply there

Kanga, if you renew your passport or travel to your country, the USCIS can revoke your green card or refuse your citizenship application when you apply for citizenship, please do use a travel document and don't travel to your country directly

do not travel (fly) to your country directly. your green card can be revoked because of that

you can after fully withdrawal of your application for Asylum
