my gc is arriving today but I don't have a ssn bcuz I never got a work permit. I called the ssa and was told someone would call me back to book an appointment to come in and apply. is this right? will they actually call? why is this so difficult?

yes, I called one Monday and they called me at the end of the week and book my appointment for me next week

my husband walked in to SSA office. i would wait for your GC to show SSA so its smooth process.

yesterday I got a call back from the SSA office and they scheduled an appointment for next week. I had to call 3 times on different days to get a call back
