Green card takes forever to get.
It took 18 months to receive my green card. I expected the same for citizenship, I was wrong. I applied for citizenship a few weeks ago, I got a letter saying biometrics wasn’t necessary, I assume it’s because I renewed my green card in 2019 and everything on my file is still valid. My appointment for interview and testing is set for the beginning of next month. Here’s hoping for approval and maybe a Ceremony on Independence Day.

do you have to be married for 3 years or have the green card for 3 years to apply for citizenship

I’ve been married for 8 years I have i485 pending a year already waiting for a interview.

no ceremony, sworn in immediately after the interview and issued a certificate of naturalization.
