From K-1 to Green Card: The Wait Is Tough, But So Are You”
To everyone still waiting on their adjustment of status—hang in there. I just received my green card today, and I want to share my experience to remind you that your moment is coming too.
I entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa, went through the whirlwind of wedding planning, filing for adjustment of status, and waiting through long months filled with uncertainty. I had my green card interview on April 23, and honestly—it was simpler than I expected. The officer was kind, and the questions were just the basics from the I-485 form. It felt more like a formal chat than a test.
And then today—it happened. I held my green card in my hands. That feeling? Relief. Joy. Gratitude.
To those still in line: I know how heavy the wait can be. There are days when you overthink everything, worry about missing something, and wonder if it’s ever going to move. But it does move. Quietly, behind the scenes, your case is being worked on.
So stay strong. Keep everything organized. Keep showing up with patience and honesty. And know that you are not alone. I was in your shoes just days ago—and now I’m on the other side, cheering for you.
Your time is coming. Don’t give up
