On June 5, 2026, a federal judge in Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island v. USCIS ruled that the agency's broad immigration freeze exceeded its statutory authority and violated the Administrative Procedure Act (APA). On June 12, 2026, USCIS announced it would comply with a federal court order (from Dorcas v. USCIS) that vacated and set aside the agency’s sweeping "adjudication hold" and benefits-freeze policies. While strongly disagreeing with the ruling, USCIS officially stopped enforcing the affected hold policies agency-wide.

@Dayana Agreda the ban is still officially going on. idk from where you are getting this wrong information. USCIS never announced that they are lifting the pause or ban because the public charge rule is still not finalized yet. please correct your facts

@Dayana Agreda the court order only affects USCIS processing which is for AOS specifically (like I-485, EAD, etc). It doesn’t automatically change consular processing at embassies, which is handled separately by the State Department. All counselor applicants are still affected by pause/ban

I don’t understand the purpose of advancing the Final Action Date if USCIS is not approving any applications. If no cases are being adjudicated or approved,

@December 2020 I think they have to advance it because of countries that are not on the ban/pause list. The visa department has a yearly quota to meet so they are trying to process more people from the countries that are allowed entry. Otherwise they might end up with an even bigger backlog.

@December 2020 that’s what I heard a former immigration officer say. I’m surprised you haven’t gotten yours as yet. I’ve seen a number of people with 2021 PD who got theirs.
