filing I-485 with expired passport
My PD is march 20, 2023(EB2-NIW), very close to become current. I have valid I-20 until end of next year.
My passport will expire in October, I would really appreciate it if anyone has any experience adjusting their status with expired passport while maintaining their student status

It shouldn't be a problem. The I-485 filing doesn't necessitate a valid passport.

@A A, can you not renew your passport within the US? it will save you an undesired RFIE.

@Rijo Rijo unfortunately my embassy cannot do that. they can only provide travel document to travel back home

Ive renewed my passport while my I-485 was in process never had any issues

it is so ver unfair! Oman might be one of the only few that doesn’t help its citizens abroad renew their passports (other being my country). but from what I understand having a valid ID such as EAD shluld be fine.
