FAFSA.
hello all, I do have a quick question, I have an approved vawa from 2023 and still waiting for i485 approval, had my gc interview last year June. I’m considering going back to school for my Master Program and I was wondering is okay to use financial aid with the current situation to fund school, or even work out a payment with school.

You can use your approved vawa for fafsa. If the school refuses and claims they can't, fight it because oftentimes they don't know about it. I just had to do that with my son and they approved it once they did their research. I completed bachelor's snd masters with PF

@larry y I thought with the new administration you shouldn’t be requesting FAFSA if you are also trying to get immigration benefits

@seun fast track federal aid is student loan...this is not public benefits because this is money you will be repaying. Public charge is for free food, food stamps, subsidized housing etc. Also, vawa is a protected class of applicants...applicants qualify for some benefits that will not be held against them by virtue of the abuse they suffered. FAFSA is one of them.

@Kerry S There is no issue with Vawa applicants receiving food stamps etc. That public charge is for people who are sponsored and then other sponsors have public charge.
