I’m thinking you will need the social security number but not as much the card. They will need it for tax purposes, identification, etc. I’ve never been employed without giving a number and most jobs in my field asked me for a card.

Jobs can let you start and have you bring your social way down the line.

I already got a job, I’m starting tomorrow with just ead, I will let you know how it goes. the i9 form says ssn info is voluntary so I’m gonna leave it blank but I will inform them I will produce ssn ASAP since I checked it on the form i765. ssn is needed for tax purposes. but work itself can be done since we have authorization

so you can definitely apply for jobs cos I got the job even without ead. i9 form say ead is a list A doc so it signals you have authorization and verifies your identity. you usually need 2 IDs, that’s when social comes in but I will use my passport or state ID

Yeah you need the ssn cos they use categories.

oops in NY you don’t need ssn for standard ID, they approved mine

for enhanced or real ID you definitely need SSN
