domestic travel
Is it safe to travel domestically while my I-485 is pending, even though I have already completed my interview? I've seen a lot of viral videos on social media claiming that even people with legal status have been detained. Is it still safe to travel within the U.S.? Has anyone traveled recently without any issues?

I have travelled a couple of times. No issues. I always take all the necessary documents that show I have a legal status with me.

@P. Shrestha when is the last time you traveled?

If you have a legal status go ahead and travel, if its just a period of authorized stay then don’t travel. TSA shares your information with DHS, DHS runs it through 🧃owned AI, your name is probably already flagged.

@Mr x I was in Florida from New York in February and March, they only checked my ID and my country's passport for identification, that was all. They didn't ask for anything extra, although of course I had everything with me.

@tiko Tinatin from Georgia 🇬🇪 is your i485 still pending??
GRU Alpha1 de ago de 2026
@tiko Tinatin from Georgia 🇬🇪 that was then, midterm election is few months away, they’re trying to bump up the arrest and deportation numbers. Personally, I would not travel right now with just pending AOS. No way you encountered ICE and they just checked your ID and Passport, it was merely a TSA screening. TSA shares traveller information with DHS so the feds already know all about your immigration history, it will be an targeted operation to send you to a detention center no, if, ands or buts about it this time.

@P. Shrestha do you still have i485 pending?

@Mr x yes it’s still pending, @GRU Alpha I wasn’t stopped by ICE. I simply answered the person’s question based on my own experience. If you’ve had a different experience, feel free to share it, but please avoid assumptions. I follow all immigration requirements, so I feel confident and at ease whenever I travel. For the past 7 years, I’ve traveled in and out of the U.S. without any issues. Wishing everyone safe and smooth travels!🤗

If you have no underlying status and are traveling based on a filed i485 which is an autorized stay, ICE might question you. It seems like ICE agents are not trained well enough to know that.

As long as you avoid ICE.. if they see you, 100% you are going to detention. Don't let anyone deceive you
