@ sanjay ok, but that's if u submit it as proof of character because there are other stuff to proof good moral character

@sanjay because I didn't file taxes , my abuser didn't even allow me on that. but I have friends , workers and employers that wrote proof of good character

You have to do your taxes it's never late to do them even if you're few years behind there will be a fee but I wouldn't mess with that.

Mine did. Send as much proof to help your case. Don’t do like my lawyer did, only sending in the prepared paperwork. USCIS wants to see that the taxes were actually filed! If you haven’t done so already, create an online IRS account so you can easily access any tax yrs USCIS requests.Good luck!

@Tee bono ~ My atty submitted the prepared tax return document with my initial Vawa application. Then 2 yrs later they requested a tax return that was filed, not documents that were prepared.

@kp so they requested the tax of the year before u got the rfe or the tax ur lawyer filed in.

When I applied for Vawa back in 2019 my atty submitted the application with some flimsy evidence along with the prepared taxes. 2yrs later, I got the RFE asking for a bunch of evidence. USCIS wanted proof that my ex & I actually filed our taxes together, not that we had them prepared.

I got similar request for transcript. I was lucky we eventually filed together so I have a tax account transcript.
