Have anybody had any experience in changing their surname on their social security card. Is the process lengthy, were you issued a new #. Please let me know what your experience was?

@blessed & favored Thanks so much I did it yesterday and the gentleman said that he had to send to USCIS for a verification process before the new card is mailed so I just wanted to know if that's standard procedure.

@Dez 21 I know surname=last name. But his question was about # (number I guess?!😁). That is why I told that number will be the same no matter what is the second part of his question😀

@Nik Nelly I was actually trying to get information on how to change the name on SSN, I am trying to get rid of FNU on my First name and split my Last name into First Name and Last Name. Can you please help me with your experience like Whats the process and what documents do I need? I don’t have a marriage certificate.
