asking for a friend
is it true that if your married to a LPR who applied to become a us citizen you can submit your applications (I130, I765, I485) and wait for that person to
become naturalized then submit their naturalization certificate once that comes true?

No , in my case I am married to LPR and my husband applied for naturalization it doesn’t allow me to add . As rule says at the time of applying either u should be LPR for 5 years or if u r husband become citizen than u can apply under 3 year rules and that to u r husband should holding that citizenship for last 3 years . For people married to LPR has diff rules compared to citizens even though they changed to naturalization .

If you are married to LPR and currently in the US then you can submit I-130, I-485, I-765 and I-131 concurrently. If the spouse become a US citizen while the forms are pending then will need to update that with USCIS.

@adam that’s what I was told but I am not sure because some people say you can only submit a I130 application and it won’t be processed until your spouse becomes a US citizen…but on the flip side I also heard you can submit all forms concurrently and once your spouse becomes a US citizen you would send a copy of the naturalization certificate in, then your applications will begin processing

@Kimmy I am a LPR and my spouse is currently in the US and we submitted all the above form ( since priority date for F2A is current for all countries). Her priority date on Aug 2021 and interview scheduled on June 2022. Hope that helps!

Yes, we are both currently in the US.

did you already apply for your citizenship?
Adam T25 de may de 2022
I have not applied yet. I have my green card for only a year so far. Applying for citizenship does not change anything in regards to your spouse I-485.

F2a is another category I’m talking about someone who is in the us that no longer has status (over stayed)
