you know its not easy for everybody to get an ID every state is different and when you go to the dmv they always ask for proof from homeland security

@im destined for greatness no I didn’t know that . the officer made it seem as if its in reach of everyone I didn’t have one so im unaware, I don’t live in every state so I don’t . im just brainstorming stuff , atleast ppl can try now right ? because someone might read this and say oh wow I didn’t know this was remotely possible. @vp vp - sorry to hear that well I guess most of the advice wouldn’t appl to you .

@jj j my interview was Dec 20th thank you @ J R Thank you 🇯🇲 @i d alright you’d have to go on the dmv site and they tell you all the stuff you’ll need but when you’re doing it make sure you try to set an appointment the dates are crazy far , but just check the dmv site for Florida and then type in your county I think st peat is pinellas county @lis M yup ! it was suprising to me as well that’s one thing I had to include while responding to the rfe after my interview.

do you think rent receipts etc help?

who’s paying the rent ? both y’all name on the lease? and if you’re not on the lease does it say you are a resident/ person that lives at the same address as your partner

he’s on the lease, I pay the rent, my new ID will show our address just got to wait for my EAD card to come in, which has the status “produced”; I have mail coming there, Interview is beginning of february

yeah makes sense, and I meant I’m paying it with my name lol and no I’m not Jamaican lol

so he actually pays . that’s a bit misleading and confusing. so becareful . that can sound like you’re working under the table and paying the rent yourself ( which you can’t do because you don’t have your ead which means your not permitted to work )

@Dae C so what if your name is not on the lease but you both have a joint account that you use together for things? My husband was living at his apartment before me so when we got there we didn’t bother to change the lease because we are planning on getting a house together soon and a bank account is all we have together for now #JamaicanToo

get you name on the lease of your interview is before you move. a joint acc literally has no weight trust me I went in there with just that and the lady was like “so you don’t live together? “ I’m like yeah we do blah blah and she’s like how do I know that etc . if he has insurance tell him add you as like beneficiary or something, bank account alone dem aguh be like well I expect you to have this , my officer was kind but she was very strict and wanted her evidence and all of it

Congratulations 🇯🇲🇯🇲. I had my interview last week and got approved at the Atlanta FO. I agree with you Dae C. My IO was nice and friendly but he asked alot a questions but me and my husband was prepared. We provided lots of pictures with family members, bank statements, car insurance, boarding pass, drivers license with the same address, joint lease, and affidavits. My husband was the petitioner and funny enough, he got most of the questions. Every case is unique but think about every possible question that they might have and be prepared with an answer with reasonable explanation.

for me, my husband doesn’t have our address on his ID because his license is suspended in another state and he has yet to pay it off so he can do the transfer license. 🥴

if your I-94 is expired don’t border to go to the dmv…u can’t do anything until uscis establish ur status even if it takes another year…u can’t do nothing…I have a drivers license and state ID BOTH ARE EXPIRED CANT DO NOTHING can’t extend the date they said I should wait till uscis establish my status…it is painful though for real u can’t get SSN U GET NOTHING THE PROCESS IS TAKING FOREVER….it is the most painful process especially in this pandemic…kudos to those who are able to go go thru it…

how can you have a joint acct without an SSN HOW CAN YOU HAVE YOUR NAME ON THE LEASE WHEN YOU DONT HAVE AN SSN….my state ID AND DRIVING LICENSE IS EXPIRED AND IT WAS ISSUED BASE ON THE I-94 expiry date…pls how do u guys come up with all the things you guys take to the interview wen u don’t have any status until u get an approval from uscis

@Samuel you can be on the lease without as a beneficiary without a ssn . Banks like wells Fargo and bank of America allow you to open a joint bank account as long as your citizen spouse has one . may I ask which state you are in .

@charlene butler I am in Memphis Tennessee…the estate where we live said they can not include me in the lease with an ssn…I will see if I can open an acct with Wells Fargo or bank of AMERICA…Becos presently I have nothing I don’t like the process here in America they make you frustrated waiting 😌
