That is frustrating, but I would not call it abnormal from the status wording alone. USCIS’s naturalization FAQs make clear that interview scheduling is the next major step; “in queue for interview” generally means the file is waiting for a slot, not that the case has been denied or forgotten.

Does anyone know why Sacramento processing time has skyrocketed to 12.5 months from 8 months in such a short span of few months?
