advance parole and traveling to mexico. My green card case is still pending since 2018 and only thing that is pending is i485. My lawyer said I can travel with AP but there is still risk.
I havent left the country for 8 years now , first 1 year j-1 and then asylum application, i lifted the asylum in 2020 and now only have 1 case thru marriage to US citizen and I do wanna see if i can use the AP because havent seen any of my family members all this time. I have a Turkish passport and EAD thru family, that says serves as 512 advance parole. I was never out of status and I am a software engineer with Cognizant pay my taxes on time. I will be traveling with my wife to Mexico for 5 days ,next week and almost about to cancel the trip. I have used it mine for several Times , I have a pending I485. and everything has gone well. As long as you don't have any criminal records. everything is fine, there is no risk with that. take the letter with you ( I797C)

i have the same issue i-485 based on marriage still pending since 2018 my interview was canceled since 2019 and the haven’t rescheduled yet, if you have no issues with uscis like breaking or something similar you can use it! never risk it and leave the country if you have any issue!

@a k , have you taken a trip outside of US yet? My trip is starting on thursday. will make the decision today to cancel the flight and the hotel or not.

my lawyer did not allow me to travel outside US while my case is pending though I have AP. He said it's not guaranteed that DHS will let me enter US again so there's a risk.

@Azir Enri that’s not true , I’ve used mine several times outside US .. and I haven’t had any problems. I don’t have any lawyer … I did everything by myself
