@sharmeen moona we are in the same boat, we would not know until some law firms explain in their podcast or youtube channel. but there are gona be lawsuits filed against it. we will see how it goes.

this ban looks like it’s targeting consulate state department directed officer in consulates to use existing laws to deny cases. unless a memorandum is issued to USCIS like what happened before with the last ban.

USCIS already printed out a memorandum. And yes the pause is both AOS and consular. I am also a national of one on the ban list

@Year of recovery It’s true there’s a memorandum but that’s for the presidential act for the 39 countries that where banned last doesn’t now apply for the rest that falls under the 75 countries

We don’t have anything official or solid from the department of state. All I have seen today are tweets and media articles. What we do know is: - a pause has been instituted at 75 consulates/embassies around the world as to immigrant visas. This is not a ban. - ⁠the purpose is to make sure immigrants do not take advantage of the welfare programs in the US. - ⁠from what we know this does not apply to nonimmigrant visas. (B1/B2; E2; L1; etc) - ⁠from what we know this doesn’t apply to immigrant cases pending in the US through adjustment of status.

@s k only Consulates are pausing visa issuance as of now. AOS is safe. But USCIS can come out and blanketly adopt DOS rule and halt AOS too. Thats what happened with the intial 19 countries banned. USCIS made decision to stop immigration petition for the people from 19 countries after DOS issued the ban. Will the same thing happen this time? Who knows.
