1-485 applying for SSN
Hi, has anyone received their SSN while their I-485 is still being processed? What’s the process and what documents are needed?

I got my SSN before my i-485 but hopefully I can help you. First you need to schedule a visit at your SSA office and fill application form online. You will need:
- Passport
- Any documents having your address on. I personally use my online order receipt with my name on and house bill, you can also bring your marriage certificate
- I-94
- Birth certificate in English
It supposed to take only 2 weeks but it was like 1 month for me to get it delivered. Good luck 🍀

@Rae L i went to the ssn after I got my ead. used only the ead and marriage certificate to get the updated ssn card. applied the Wednesday and got thr new card the Monday.
