@s s, I Just got my 2nd prima facie last week. I got it after two weeks of my first one expired and they sent it to me automatically.

If you have a socia security number and state ID, just go ahead and apply for financial aid on the website and select “special immigrant” (can’t remember the exactly options but it is something like that. Maybe qualified immigrant….). After that you just have to fill up all the questions and wait for the approval from the website. I would say to apply for college first and be accepted to know how much you will get from financial aid. Remember that not all colleges or Universities will accept you without a green card. I have to have my green card by the end of my course in order to apply for NCLEX to become a Registered Nurse.

After being accepted for financial aid, you will have to work with your school and show them your prima facie. Most people out there never dealt with a prima facie before, so you will have to explain to them how it works the way I did.

Yes, it did cover most of my expenses. I just have to pay for my uniforms and books out of pocket.

joques, go on the website and if you get approved, just take the paperwork to the financial aid department in your University and your prima facie. If needed, just look it up on google and show them that prima facie is accepted for aid. It is only valid per a year, it only covers one or two semesters.

@s s, one last question for you, so they approve your collegue expensive for a whole year? because first Prima Facie is valid for one year, I believe the second one is only approved for six months, will the make your financial aid change to six months as well?

I'm asking because I never knew this, and since I got my second Prima Facie, I wonder how would it work.

Financial aid will be available to you as long as your prima facie is not expired and until the expiration date. I would say valid for one semester or two. If you get approved, just show your approval letter and that will also be good to continue with your financial aid.

I did a bunch of research before applying for benefits. I did not use my prima facie to get government benefits.
