Judicial oath ceremony time frame
My N400 interview was Nov 28 ,2022 and i didn’t get oath ceremony schedule. I did name change during process and officer said they will send letter for oath ceremony schedule. It showed oath ceremony will be scheduled at my USCIS account . I have been waiting for over 30days now. How should I contact USCIS? Is it normal to wait several month for judicial oath ceremony?

If you changed your name then the oath ceremony will take up to 90 days or more but not less than that

I didn’t know that much long😩

@Ahmed, that is not necessarily through. It depends on your state and if most ceremonies are judicial or administrative. Some states have a judge in ALL oaths. In such states, a name change can be done in such ceremonies which will be determined on how soon the next one is from your approval date

When I asked to change my name, the officer informed me that this matter would take 90 days to obtain an oath. Then I changed my mind and told him I did not want to change my name. I took the oath on the same day of the interview.

@Ahmed that is correct because your field office didn’t have a judicial oath that day. Most states have one every few months. It depends on the state like I stated. Most times, a judicial oath is performed in a the US District Court house in your state and not the field office.

I live in Nebraska state and they have Oath ceremony every single day literally, but when I asked to change my name the officer told me it will take up to 90 days.
And this law is consistent in all states with regard to changing the name, and I am very sure.

@Ahmed I think we are saying the same thing. Oaths can happen every day but they are not judicial oaths. USCIS conducts admisntratice oath ceremonies (by a USCIS employee) or judicial oath ceremonies(performed by a judge). Judical oath ceremonies(which are required for name change) don’t happen as often as administrative. That’s all I’m saying.
